Xmas Driving

Yes, we ARE coming to Salt Lake for Christmas. We're probably staying in Las Vegas for a 'half way' point.. My Aunt Kathy is nice enough to let us crash there for a night.

NOT looking forward to:
The Drive
The Cold
The Snow
The Bad Roads
Did I mention that I hate snow and cold?

Looking forward to:
Seeing my mom
Seeing my little sister
Seeing NOAH!!!! :) (the nephew I've held ONCE)
Seeing my grandma
Seeing everyone else.
listening to the new Dan Brown novel on the way the way there

It's been a major adjustment to live in California.. not to mention growing accustom to all the new military rules/schedule.

I think Aaron is doing really well in school. He loves his language and is really excelling. He'll be fluent before we know it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! WITH LOVE, THE GREERS

Guess who's coming for dinner...

Here it comes again, Thanksgiving. Last year we spent it with Aaron's parents. My first year REALLY helping prepare the meal. The turkey was AMAZING last year, and the gravy; divine.

This year, we are having a special guest coming to California to share Thanksgiving with us: JESSE!!! We are so excited for him to come here and bask in the warmth (well, warmer than Utah) of Seaside. We're headed to a new friends' house for dinner; Heather DeBusk. Can't thank them enough for being willing to have us. (And save me from a day of slaving over the multiple dish meal for only 4 people!)

I fully intend to purchase pecan and pumpkin pies.. can't wait.

Lately, Mila has really started to enjoy Elmo and Sesame Street (and DRESSING HERSELF).. let me tell you how fun THAT is...

This year I am thankful that our family has been reunited after Aaron's trip through Navy boot camp. We may be far from our extended family, but Aaron, Mila and I are together, healthy and happy. . I wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Mila is a cupcake.

<----- Mila cupcake.

She likes to sit in the laundry baskets.. or pretty much anything else I would prefer that she DIDN'T sit in. HA!

This is the outfit she was wearing at the store earlier today and the man pushing his cart next to me said, "Is that a boy or girl?" I tell ya, it NEVER ends. Does Mila need more hair? Or do we need some more color-aware people?! When you see a small child dressed COMPLETELY in pink-- do you really wonder if it's a boy or girl? HELLO!?

Some beach-ness.

<--- Dolly enjoying the waves

<-- Hanging out at the San Marcos beach again with Mila & Aaron.

<-- Relaxing on a bench.

For me, it is a very serene setting. I could sit on one of those benches all day. I really enjoy the sound of the waves crashing into the shore. Watching the seaweed drag back and forth, unwilling to return to the depths. It seems as if the kelp would prefer to laze about on the beach and raise a bit of a tan.
It's so peaceful.

Leopard print pants and a purple jumper.

Mila decided that she was going to dress herself today! Yes, you DO see leopard print pants, a white shirt and PURPLE dress. I commented that she looked "silly" and she was looking down at herself.

She has a wicked runny nose, and as I was running around doing errands this morning she would periodically say, "Nose mom. Nose." I would glance back and sure enough, there would be slimey green-ness running down her face. *Gag*

Each day with children is certainly an adventure. She is learning so many words everyday. She never ceases to amaze me.

Aaron starts school in a bit, well actually 10 days to be exact. I think he is excited and maybe a little nervous as this is yet ANOTHER (in a long line of) schedule changes.

I'm stunned how fast I have been able to learn my way around town (being that I am not a 'directionally coordinated' person). Luckily, it is quite simple and the freeway isn't hard to maneuver.

Greetings!

Well, since blogging appears to be the trendy way to 'keep up' with everyone, I thought I'd create one myself so you can all keep up with Mila (and boring old Aaron and Marissa).

This is officially our second week in Seaside, California. I'm happy to throw out some Beatles "Dear Prudence" lyrics: "The sun is out, the sky is blue, it's beautiful...". There could be no better way to describe this part of California. In the mornings, the fog rolls in, but around 0930 (growing accustomed to using military time) it rolls back out.

Mila currently has a cold, which is terrible as she JUST got over one back home. New place, new germs I guess. I'm sure she'll recover soon enough and be back to her adventurous and busy self.

I'm still unpacking the kitchen, at this point really considering just throwing all the dishes out and using paper/plastic wear and utensils from now on. HA.

The ocean here is unbelievable. About five minutes from our house the bay is visible. Mila seems to really enjoy staring out at the water, and pestering the seagulls. (The seagulls here are NOT like the ones back in Salt Lake. These seagulls, I'm told, are so much bigger because they live off marine life instead of garbage.)

Well, we're off to run some errands. Check back for more updates and pictures!
